Description: 

One mass of metal has a tapered core projecting into the second mass of metal. The two masses may fuse during manufacture. The mass receiving the tapered core has a metal washer with an opening that the tapered core goes through. The washer caps the mold to keep the metal out of the pinion during the casting operation.
