The writer has been told that the first three employees of the company were Mr. Paton, father of Mr. Robert Paton of our Tool Department, Mr. Joseph Klein, who is still with us, and a Mr. Dolph. This was in 1884, the year before the first building was put up. The work shop or factory, if one might call it that, was located in a little shed which stood on part of the ground now occupied by building No. 3.
