Westclox Big Ben Style 4a Loud Base Bottom Color Variations

The first Style 4a Big Ben bases are painted gold on the bottom. Starting ca. 1936, they are painted black (gunmetal) on the bottom and outside edge.

Base Bottom Color Gold:

Gold bottom and nickel edge. Used from the beginning through ca. 1935.

Base Bottom Color Black:

Black (gunmetal) bottom and outside edge. Used starting ca. 1936.
