Early bases are not as deep as later bases. Several variations in lettering exist.

1 Base is only 1 11/16 inches deep. The cavity number "1 - A" or "2 - A" has wide spacing. Used from the beginning of Style 4 though ca. October 1934.. Big 4 Base 1 "1 - A"
