A pair of poles carries the flux to the alarm armature, it has a damper controlled by a cam that adjusts the alarm loudness. The shutoff control presses the alarm armature against the resilient damper button to completely silence the alarm. One of the poles that carries the flux to the alarm armature has an extension that operates the power outage indicator without diverting appreciable magnetism from the poles.
