Description:

In the drawing the balance is in front of the movement, and a shaft coupled to the usual regulator extends outside the back plate. This shaft has a lever with a shaft rotatably mounted, the shaft having a thumbscrew on one end and a gear on the other. This gear meshes with a gear segment (rack) fixed to the back plate. Rotating the thumbscrew causes the lever to rotate, moving the regulator.
