Original owner of the patents for the Sangamo motors used by Westclox and Seth Thomas.
The Sangamo Electric Company was founded in 1899. Made about 40 prototype clocks in 1924 (actually made by the Illinois Watch Company). Hamilton Watch Company purchased Illinois Watch Company in 1928. The Hamilton-Sangamo Corporation was organized on 6/1/1929 equally owned by Hamilton and Sangamo. In 1931 General Time Instruments Corporation bought Hamilton-Sangamo. Seth Thomas marketed the Sangamo clock.
